Landmark Travels: Mid-Hudson Heaven

Travel with us to the Mid-Hudson Valley September 23rd -26th. We’ll visit some classic sites, including several National Historic Sites including the home and studio of painter Thomas Cole, the FD Roosevelt site and presidential library, and a look at Eleanor Roosevelt’s impact on history. We’ll explore the grand architecture and history of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point as well.
Our most unique stop? We’ll boat to a private island on Lake Mahopec to tour a home and guest house originally designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. Wright sketched out the designs at the age of 83, but the client decided it was too expensive to build. It wasn’t until a visionary bought the island and the plans, and brought these Wright inspired structures to life, incorporating many of Wright’s concepts for the property. Wright Over Water is truly an amazing place to visit that limits the number of lucky visitors to this private site each year!
What could top that tour? We’ll conclude our trip with a stay at one of the most amazing places in America: Mohonk Mountain House. It was no accident the resort was chosen to stand in for an afterlife “heaven” in a Prime TV series. Architecturally unique, 3 gourmet meals a day, and many activities on the lake, trails, spa, and pool – or in the beautiful building’s parlor, library, and tavern.
Those who travel with us know we also find delicious and interesting meal sites – and this will be no exception! We plan to dine at one of the CIA restaurants (not the spy place but the Culinary Institute of America) as well as other fabulous dining experiences.
This tour size is strictly limited, due to the capacity of the boats to the Wright Over Water island.
Included: all tour entries, gratuities, overnight accommodations in Hyde Park and Mohonk, luxury coach transportation, 10 meals, and the assistance of Landmark professional staff.
