February 10, 2023 @ 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Walk the Walk School Performance
At the “Walk the Walk” school performance day your students will meet actors portraying Rochester’s African American ancestors. Students will experience an onstage performance, as each Ancestor shares their story. Interactive activities keep students engaged during the performance. Pre/post visit materials prepare students and reinforce content.
In addition to the historic content, each script also incorporates values lessons for the students. They learn about Austin Steward as the first successful African American businessman, but they also learn from him how to deal with bullies. Frederick Douglass shares the importance of education, and Captain Sunfish encourages students not to let adversity stop their dreams.
School performances will be held Thursday morning February 9th and Friday morning February 10th. More info at the link below.
