Five Countries, all unique in their own way, line the Danube on its journey towards the furthest reaches of Eastern Europe. Begin your adventure with an exclusive Landmark add-on of an additional night to begin discovering your new surroundings in the legendary city Budapest. The royal capital of Buda and the commercial town of Pest, on opposite sides of the Danube, were united less than 150 years ago to form Budapest, one city with two distinct identities. We will stay in a luxury hotel, enjoy a welcome dinner together, and take a bus tour of both Buda and Pest before boarding Emerald Cruise’s award winning Star-Ship the next day. Our second day in Budapest will be at leisure for you to experience more of this magical city including a lovely lunch prior to transfer to the ship where you can become acquainted with the all the amenities of this luxury vessel. Once we start cruising the Danube, we will visit a Puszta Horse Farm in Kalocsa, Hungary, for a performance showcasing the riding skills of Magyar cowboys and enjoy lunch in the home of a local Croatian family in Osijek; take a guided tour of Belgrade before attending a Serbian folklore show onboard the ship; taste Romanian wine on the banks of the river, visit the impressive cliff-top town of Veliko Tarnova, and attend a choir concert in Arbanasi. Your adventure will end with a two-night stay in the remarkable city of Bucharest, Romania. Landmark guests will enjoy our dinners together at very special restaurants in Bucharest and we will also be including the DiscoverMORE excursion to Dracula’s Castle in Transylvania for our group!
