Help us show some love to buildings in need!
Help us show a vacant home (and other buildings!) in the Susan B. Anthony Neighborhood some love! On Saturday, February 10th we’ll meet up at the 540WMain Community Learning Academy to make Valentines for 6 Madison St. (pictured above) and other buildings in need of some love.
YUPs, kids of all ages, and families are invited to attend–we’ll provide a brief overview of what heart bombing and preservation are all about then we’ll hand over the valentines-making supplies. With valentines in hand, we’ll walk around the block for a photo shoot. After we heart bomb the house, any remaining YUPs are invited to help us heart bomb a few other sites around the city.
We’ll provide crafting supplies but feel free to bring your own too! This is a FREE, family/kid friendly event and is open to all–children, adults, YUPs and non-YUPs alike!
>>Space is limited, RSVP required.
Saturday, 2/10 | 2:00 – 4:00 PM | 540 W Main St. | Free, registration required | Facebook event
More classes at the Brainery
Our Rochester Brainery classes on 19th and 20th century architectural history this month filled up quickly so we’ve added a repeat: mark your calendars for Tuesday, 5/15 and 5/22.
Crash Course in American Architectural History I and II:
Love old buildings but have no idea what you’re looking at? In this one hour class, we’ll give you the rundown of American architectural styles from the Colonial era through the 19th century, with a focus on local and regional examples. Learn the names of important architectural styles common in the northeast; some basic architectural terminology; and how to approximately date the buildings you see every day. This class can be taken on its own if you’re not a fan of mid-century modern architecture or you can continue the fun with Crash Course in American Architectural History II – 20th Century.
