PARK(ing) Day 2016
What can happen when people are granted space to engage? The YUPs are partnering with Reconnect Rochester to host PARK(ing) Day on Friday, 9/16, from 9:00 am to 6:30 pm in the surface parking lot at 101 Franklin St. We will transform this vacant downtown lot into a public space intended for the human scale.
Want to participate with us? We are looking for submission of visual art in any form, expressing how you would transform, re-purpose, and ultimately revitalize your favorite run-down / abandoned / unused place in Rochester. You have until Monday, September 12th to sketch, draw, paint, sculpt, build, etc. a rendition of any actual location in the city reborn as a skate park…or duck pond…or skyscraper…or corner store…limited only by your imagination.
Friday, 9/31 and Saturday, 10/1: We’re participating in The Landmark Society’s Inside Downtown Tour by hosting St. Joseph’s Park. Email Chris to volunteer.
Saturday, 10/1, evening: It’s all hands on deck for the Save the Block Party at Re: Main Social. We need help setting up, running the event, and taking down at the end of the night. Stay tuned for complete details on this awesome event! We’ll have a very special guest providing musical entertainment! Email Laura to volunteer.
