THIS WEDNESDAY – Behind the Scenes: Harro East
You may have danced in the ballroom or worked up a sweat in the athletic club, but did you know that this 1930s gem went from an abandoned building in the 1970s to the thriving mixed-use building we know today? Come take a behind-the-scenes tour to see how the former home of the Jewish Young Men’s and Women’s Association has transformed while continuing to serve as an entertainment and commercial staple of the Rochester landscape.
>>Reserve your spot here (tour is free but space is limited)
Still want to talk preservation? Join us for a drink at Abilene Bar & Lounge after the tour (153 Liberty Pole Way, Rochester, NY 14604)! No cover for tour participants.
Wednesday, February 24th | 5:45 pm sharp! | Harro East, 155 North Chestnut St. Rochester, NY 14604 | Registration required (the tour is free but space is limited!)
Heart Bombing 2016
We had a successful, if frigid, heart bombing event Valentine’s weekend. Thanks to everyone who braved the cold to show these buildings some love! See the rest of the pictures on Facebook.
Rust Belt Coalition of Young Preservationists
A bunch of YUPs are planning to caravan to Pittsburgh for this gathering of young preservationists groups in April. If you’re interested in joining us, sign up for the event. And send us an email if you’re interested in carpooling.
Help needed: web development
If you have web development experience and want to put your skills to good use, then we have a job for you! A team of YUPs is hard at work recruiting new bars and creating new content for our WHERE THE #&@% AM I? historic bar/pub coaster program. We can still use an extra hand in making a few additions and changes to the website. Email Caitlin Meives for more information. Thanks!
