This weekend: House & Garden Tour comes to Park Avenue!
Our 43rd annual House & Garden Tour returns to the Park Avenue neighborhood this weekend. Homeowners on the beautiful Westminster Road, the charming Canterbury Road, and other streets in the area are opening their homes for you. There will be 10 private homes to tour, as well as an architecturally significant school. Most have not been open for a tour in 20 years – and two of them have never been open to the general public.
June 8 and 9 | 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. | $18/members, $22 non-members | Purchased tickets can be picked up at Landmark Society offices until Thursday or picked up at Headquarters during the tour | Non-member tickets can also be purchased in person at Parkleigh, 215 Park Ave.
Preservation Grant Fund applications available
Launched in September, 2012, The Landmark Society’s Preservation Grant Fund program offers funds for preliminary design and planning studies to help make positive improvements to at-risk buildings. The grant does not fund bricks and mortar repairs. The program was initially funded through a bequest from Elizabeth (Libby) Stewart. Libby was a longtime Landmark Society staff member who was dedicated to the revitalization of neighborhoods and historic structures. Applications are now available for the next round of funding. The application deadline is July 31, 2013. Visit our website to learn more.
Rehab Loans for homeowners in City of Rochester preservation districts
The Landmark Society of Western New York and NeighborWorks® Rochester are partnering to help homeowners in City of Rochester Preservation Districts make exterior and interior home improvements by offering construction management services and loans to those who qualify. How does it work?
- You own and live in a home (with a maximum of four residential units) in a City Preservation District.
- NeighborWorks provides loans to qualifying homeowners.
- Landmark Society staff work with you to prioritize repairs, hire contractors, and obtain necessary permits, guiding you through Preservation Board review.
