Cocktails & Carburetors tickets on sale!

Now in its sixth year, our Cocktails & Carburetors two-day event combines vintage and special interest autos with tours of private garages and car collections.

On Friday, September 20th, 2019 from 6:30 to 9:00, you’ll attend the opening cocktail party at Horsepower Motorworksin Victor. Stroll among the many cars, both under restoration and on display, while enjoying music, cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and a silent auction. You’re invited to drive your special interest car for preferred parking. While there, pick up your program for the self-guided tour on Saturday, September 21th from 10:00 to 4:00 – this will be similar to a house tour, but focused on garages and their fascinating contents!

The following Sunday, September 29th from 9:00 to 1:00, Oak Hill presents their Seventh Annual Invitational Car Show, one of the best and most respected shows in our area, with cars, food, music, and drink. There is a $25.00 per car registration fee, no spectator fee.

Announcing the Inside Downtown Tour: East & Alexander

Every year, The Landmark Society’s Inside Downtown Tour opens up urban environments where folks are creating exciting spaces to live and work in Rochester: we visit re-purposed spaces, renovated homes, lovingly preserved places, and newly built sites that are designed with sensitivity to the overall built environment. This year’s tour will take place in the neighborhood around East Avenue & Alexander Street in Rochester’s East End, on Friday, September 27 from 5:30 to 8:30 pm, and on Saturday, September 28th from 11 am to 4 pm.

The Tour will take us on East Avenue and Alexander Street, an area undergoing transformation. The former Inner Loop is no longer a “moat” separating downtown from the rest of the neighborhood. We will bridge that former gap by extending the tour up East Avenue into the East End, including The Sagamore and Charlotte Square.

Tour tickets will go on sale on our website starting Tuesday, September 3rd.

The Landmark Society’s Preservation Grant Fund program offers funds for preliminary design and planning studies to help make positive improvements to at-risk buildings. The grant does not fund bricks and mortar repairs. The program was initially funded through a bequest from Elizabeth (Libby) Stewart. Libby was a longtime Landmark Society staff member who was dedicated to the revitalization of neighborhoods and historic structures. Applications are now available for the next round of funding. The application deadline is September 20, 2019.
