WHERE THE #&@% AM I?™ Kickoff Party at Cure
The Landmark Society and the Young Urban Preservationists present WHERE THE #&@% AM I?™ Kickoff Party at Cure this Wednesday, August 5th. WHERE THE #&@% AM I?™ is a network of historic bars, pubs, and local watering holes. The buildings that they inhabit have lived many lives and have many untold stories to tell. WHERE THE #&@% AM I?™ connects you, the patron, to these places and to a sampling of their stories. It’s not a history lesson; it’s a random amalgamation of titillating tidbits; a series of snippets; a window onto the power of change.
Join us for a casual kickoff party this Wednesday, August 5th outside Cure at the Public Market. Tickets are $20 and include a drink and snacks. >>Click here for tickets.

Brainery Spectacular Tonight
Join us for the 2nd annual Brainery Spectacular sponsored by Yelp Rochester from 5-9pm tonight at Asbury First United Methodist Church (1050 East Ave.)! This event is free and open to all ages. Held rain or shine! The Landmark Society and our Young Urban Preservationists will be on hand to chat with you and talk about our work in the community (we’ll also be selling tickets to the Coaster Kickoff Event on Wednesday!). Landmark legend, Cynthia Howk, will lead a guided walking tour down East Avenue (sold out!). And there will be plenty of other local vendors, food trucks, music, and classes. See the full schedule and lineup on Facebook.
St. Joseph’s Park hopping with activity
Since we officially re-opened the gates to St. Joseph’s Park in downtown Rochester last summer, we have been delighted by the amazing response from the community. Seeing new groups utilize the space in new and creative ways has been truly inspiring. This summer, we’ve had wedding photo shoots and musical and dance performances (from Sunset Concerts and the Institute for Creative Music). On August 13th, Out & Equal New York Finger Lakes will be back with their 2nd Thursday’s event. In the fall, we’re excited to welcome back The Yards for their Spectral Carnival.
If you missed our Open House on July 24th, we still want to hear from you! Share your vision and ideas for the Park by emailing us.
We’re on WXXI radio!
Last week, Landmark staff were guests on Connections with Evan Dawson to talk about the Chautauqua Amphitheater and other endangered historic buildings. Today, four of our intrepid Young Urban Preservationists joined Evan to talk about the YUPs, millennials, and historic preservation in the 21st century. Listen to both shows on WXXI’s website.
