100 Years of Pike Stained Glass Coffee Walk
Friday, May 9 - 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Come join us on this special “Coffee Walk” celebrating the 100th anniversary of Pike Stained Glass Studio. Located in the historic Smith-Gormly building (in the St. Paul District), Pike Stained Glass has specialized in creating or restoring large scale religious stained glass windows for three generations, and was recognized in 2006 with a Landmark Society Craftsman
Award.
We’ll spend the first hour on a special behind-the-scenes tour of the studio where Pike Stained Glass Director (and glass design artist extraordinaire) Valerie O’Hara will walk us through the steps of this exciting and exacting architectural art. We’ll then hit the streets with Landmark Society Architectural Research Coordinator Cynthia Howk, who will lead us on a wonderful walking tour of the St. Paul/North Water Street Historic District. We will learn about architectural and historic wonders such as the “Little French" Church, the building built by “The Safe Cure” patent medicines, and other treasures in this 19th-century industrial neighborhood.
$18 per person, $16 for Landmark Members. Pre-registration required. Register online or call 585-546-7029
