Preservation at Greentopia | ECOFEST

The Greentopia fest is back this year as Greentopia | ECOFEST. What could be more green than recycling existing buildings, preserving public parks, and revitalizing historic, walkable communities? Preservation is truly the original green. You can learn more about the intersections of preservation, sustainability, and community at many Greentopia events this year. The Landmark Society’s Executive Director, Wayne Goodman, will be partnering with Katie Comeau from Bero Architecture and architect Paul Minor to present a talk on Saturday, September 16. As part of Greentopia | FILM, you can also see the documentary, Detropia, the story of a Motor City run out of gas (running tonight and tomorrow night at The Little). Take a look at our Greentopia post for more information about these events. Or visit the official Greentopia website for a complete rundown of events.

A new addition to The Landmark Society staff!

We’re pleased to announce the addition of a new staff member. Larry Francer has joined The Landmark Society as the Associate Director of Preservation. Larry will be working with some of our new and exciting preservation programs (more details coming soon!). He comes to us from Farmland, Indiana. Preservationist, courthouse activist, small business owner, religious leader, Zumba enthusiast, filmmaker, actor – Larry is a true “Renaissance Man.” His experience in the private sector as well as with not-for-profits will serve him well as he becomes a member of the Rochester community and The Landmark Society.

Larry and the rest of us are just an e-mail or phone call away–visit our Staff page for contact info.
