Ghost Walk this weekend

There’s still time to get your Ghost Walk tickets! Take a walk down one of Rochester’s most historic streets and revel in ghostly tales from the city’s past…if you dare! Ghost Walk is a nighttime guided walking tour. Follow lantern-bearing guides down the darkened streets of an historic neighborhood, and stop for theatrical performances by the “ghosts of Rochester’s past.” Each enacting a true history gory story from our past! All tours depart from Lutheran Church of the Incarnate Word (597 East Ave).

Call for session proposals: 2016 Statewide Preservation Conference

The 2016 Statewide Preservation Conference will take place May 5-7th in Albany and Troy. We’re moving east to the Capital Region to mark the 50th anniversary of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA). This year’s Conference theme is Preservation50: NYS. Preservation50 is a nationwide effort to celebrate, learn from, and leverage the NHPA’s first five decades to assure historic preservation’s vibrant future in America.The 2016 Statewide Preservation Conference will be all about celebrating our past achievements and planning for the future of historic preservation in New York State.

We need you and your preservation projects, ideas, and initiatives to help make the Conference a success. Share your success stories, challenges, and new ideas with preservationists and community advocates from across the state. Submit your session proposal by Friday, November 13th to be considered. We welcome proposals on a wide variety of topics.

Fall Partners Roundup next Monday: Creative Placemaking

The 2015 Fall Partners Roundup will take place Monday, October 26th at The Landmark Society’s offices. The Partners Roundup is an opportunity for community advocates and preservation partners from around the region to gather and share their communities’ or organizations’ challenges and successes. The formal portion of the program will feature a panel discussion with artists and preservationists from around the region who are utilizing creative, place-based events to showcase historic communities and places. Panelists will include Pilar McKay from Shake on the Lake in Perry, Dana Saylor from Buffalo, Crystal Surdyk of Joy Kuebler Landscape Architect, PC, and Benjamin Woelk of Slow Road Consulting.
