75th Anniversary

The Landmark Society is celebrating its 75th anniversary! For 75 years we have served communities throughout Rochester and western New  York, advocating on behalf of threatened historic resources, providing tangible connections to our heritage, serving as a resource for property owners and local governments alike, and promoting planning practices that foster healthy, livable, and sustainable communities.

Throughout 2012 we’ll be hosting a number of new and exciting events to celebrate our  achievements and this momentous occasion. Events will offer our members once-in-a-lifetime opportunities to experience historic sites like never before. But our 75th anniversary isn’t just about celebrating the past; it’s about looking towards the future, it’s about reinvigorating our commitment to preservation and to the communities we serve in Western New York–It’s About NOW.

It’s About NOW is the theme of our year-long celebration. In addition to celebrating our achievements, we are also looking forward, creating the vision and strength that will ensure our impact seventy-five years from now—in 2087. What we do NOW has an impact on our past and has an impact on our future. As part of that vision, we will be launching new initiatives. Our temporary logo for the year captures this synergy of past and present, transforming the capital of our traditional logo into a 75.

Throughout the year, we’ll be featuring some of these 75+ reasons in more depth on our website. Visit our Success Stories page to see the full list. Our first expanded reason involves The Landmark Society’s early work in the Corn Hill neighborhood through the Genesee Landmarks Foundation.
